Rocky Patel decided it was time to clean out the aging humidor at his company’s Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A. (TAVICUSA) factory.

As the factory develops blends, test cigars get made, and over time, factories accumulate a lot of these cigars. Now, you can buy the cigars that were cleaned out. The company has begun selling those cigars under the Patel Extras brand, a presumably limited edition series. The company took the cigars out of the aging room and divided them into four categories, by length.

• Patel Extras Extra Small
• Patel Extras Small
• Patel Extras Medium
• Patel Extras Large

All of the cigars are long-filler and aged for at least two years, though some of the cigars will be much older. Each five-pack will contain the same five cigars, though the individual five-packs aren’t guaranteed to be the same blend or vitola.

Some of the cigars will be commercial blends, others might be blends that never came to market. Nish Patel, evp of Rocky Patel, gave the example that some cigars might be a round version of the company’s Sixty, which is normally sold as a box-pressed cigar, or a salomon vitola of a blend that doesn’t have one. Regardless, the cigars don’t have bands, so you won’t know what they are.
